Artist Weekly Mag went smoothly for few months...we guess. But then just faced difficulties. Here are the mistakes and solutions we have thought of:
Inconsistency: It was really inconsistent with its content. While aiming for a weekly post, it had the capacity to only put out biweekly content safely without overloading.
Solution: Aiming for monthly and/or biweekly main content while maintaining the attention captured by smaller short-life content.
Boring content: The layout, theme and context of every content was too similar which, while maintained regularity and time-saving, was too dull and boring. Plus all the promised content were cancelled due to the first point.
Solution: Regularity only in the layout of the website and Instagram page. Variety on the content on YouTube channel, IG page and the website.
Focusing on the wrong parts of the community: Yes, they tried to give exposure to certain section of the community, where they was an oversaturation of medium quality music and toxicity.
Solution: Stay away from those parts. We will only give exposure, support and content to the parts welcoming, cooperative and appropriate to our initiative.
Indulging in music politics: Artist Weekly Mag, while claiming to perform fair music journalism for the underground, had dabbled hands in some sensitive ties of the community. While there were many times when Artist Weekly Mag was fair, unbiased and performing honestly, they were blamed to be taking sides (tho very minutely. they still never supported any side. just inclined more towards one)
Solution: Blacklisting all the controversial and toxic members of the community and maintaining neutral stance on any matter(if the company was required to listen and justfully act on an external matter).
